My hunch is that they were blocking traffic from this server to the database server. Why? Who knows. It could be a networking issue that would have resolved itself eventually too.

There has long been discussions about good versus evil and if God has anything to do with it. I will delve into this delicate topic but first I need to mention that I am not a Biblical scholar, associated with any church, or hold any degrees concerning Biblical research. The references used herein have all been taken from the King James Version unless otherwise noted. Below you will find my Christian opinion on this topic.

"And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels."

Rev 12:7

The battle lines are clearly drawn with the good guys on one side and evil on the other. Special attention is taken in showing that "the old dragon", Satan, has his own beings.

"And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him."

Rev. 12:9

The verse above shines light on the entire subject of good versus evil. John, which authored the book of Revelation, Uses four terms to describe Satan, each one more demoralizing than the last to show us how low Satan is. He also tells us of his angels, though be it dark angels, we call them demons or inhuman are also among us. The devil was once a high ranking angel in heaven, but his jealousy of God is what got him bound to eternal damnation. He, in short, wanted to be God. Satan is smart and we learn that deception is his main weapon; his goal is to wear us down and have us do his will which is pure evil. Deception is believed to be how possession occurs. The Ouija board, for instance, is commonly used as a game or a way to communicate with a deceased loved one. Often times I believe demons lay in wait to see the vulnerability of the user and deceive them by answering correctly. While the believer is convinced that a loved one is talking to them, the demon slowly works his way into the person eventually gaining full control of their physical being. The Ouija board is not the only way this happens though. Depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, and even drug use is believed to be possible features demons look for to begin their work. Possession does not happen over night but over a period of time. Slowly the demon will test the waters of their subject and as the person gets more and more comfortable, the entity applies more and more pressure until complete self control is lost.

In the book of Luke chapter 4 Jesus is tempted by the devil three different times over a forty day period. First the devil tells Jesus to turn a stone into bread, secondly he promises Christ all the kingdoms in the world, and third he tells Jesus to jump from the pinnacle of a temple and see if His angels save Him. All Jesus had to do was bow down to Lucifer, but Christ knows how the devil is and He knows His Father and He knew Satan would work harder against Him. This is the devil tempting the Son of God so just imagine how Satan tempts us, the son of man.

"And Jesus answered and said unto him, Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt Worship the Lord thy God, and Him only shalt thou serve"

The reason I quoted this verse is because I have heard it argued that invoking the name of Jesus will not help in an inhuman or demonic haunt. I can not agree with that argument.

"Yet Michael the archangel, contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee"

Michael knows how powerful the devil is, after all he cast him from heaven but he stills calls on The Lord for help when he is tempted by the devil. When Satan accused Moses of being a murderer, Michael asked The Lord to rebuke him.]]>

As the legend goes, Martha Mulholland died in 1845, supposedly poisoned by a greedy brother-in-law who wanted her land and money.

According to that same legend, it's Mulholland who, more than a century and a half later, is hanging around the Dixboro General Store, moving things around, labeling jars of jam and generally making her presence known.

Store owner Steve Dani says staff and customers alike have been encountering the ghost since the store opened 17 years ago.

"We've had customers come right up to us and say, 'Do you have a ghost here?'" Dani said. "And we go, 'Yeah,' and they say, 'Well, I just saw her.'

"I've never really felt any kind of presence or anything personally, but it's been noted. ... And little things happen to us that are unexplainable."

The ghost in the Dixboro General Store is just one of a number of specters described in "Ann Arbor Area Ghosts," a new book by Royal Oak author and self-described "sensitive" Mimi Uptergrove.

"I have the ability to pick up certain traits about people, dead and living," Uptergrove said. "I truly believe that spirits on the other side, in order to communicate with us, they have to find a link."

Uptergrove, who also works as an editor for an Ann Arbor consumer testing group, said she started out writing a book about ghosts across the state after she began keeping a journal about her experiences as an amateur paranormal investigator in 2004. The publisher she found for the book told her that she needed to narrow it down to a particular area, and suggested Ann Arbor.



The book includes stories of Uptergrove's investigations of hauntings throughout the area, including a violent haunting in Milan, an Ann Arbor man who can't seem to avoid witnessing the paranormal, and a former Ypsilanti resident who made an independent film about the haunted house he lived in there.

In the case of the Dixboro General Store, Martha Mulholland was living in a house on the same property where the store sits now, according to Uptergrove. The story goes that Mulholland and her sister were married to two brothers, and both women died of the same mysterious illness within a period of several years.

A family traveling toward Ann Arbor broke down in their wagon near the house, and Mulholland's 15-year-old son took them in as boarders. Shortly thereafter, the ghost of a woman began appearing to the father of the family, telling him details of her death and saying that she had been poisoned by her brother-in-law, James Mulholland.

When the man reported these sightings, angry residents demanded that Martha Mulholland's body be exhumed and an autopsy conducted. When the investigation uncovered that the woman had, in fact, been poisoned, community members shunned James Mulholland, who quickly left town.

Whether or not it is Martha Mulholland who haunts the Dixboro General Store, Dani said he doesn't mind having her around.

A ghost, spirit or specter is a compilation of many different elements.

First and foremost, it is the essence and energy of a previously living human being lacking all of it's physical senses, sight, sound, touch, etc.

Second, it is a mass of feelings and pure thought that must use alternate forms of communication. They can easily sense a human's feelings, whether it be fear, malevolence or kindness.

Thirdly, a ghost is a elemental being sustained by an energetically charged environment. Many elements are required to establish the formation of this elusive entity. Energy, first and foremost is essential for it's existence and manifestation.

Upon entering an environment where a suspected spirit resides, it is essential to allow the spirit the opportunity to manifest. If the researchers and ghost hunters charge in with lights out and cameras blazing, the spirit may be intimidated by the aggressive nature and become reclusive. There needs to be a common courtesy from both parties for a successful investigation to be fruitful. Poking and provoking the spirit, while occasionally effective, may result in unwanted physical attacks or no results at all.

Let's review what our basic understanding of ghosts from a scientific standpoint for a moment. All theories and assumed facts based on our experiences, technology and experiments.

First, ghosts vibrate at a higher frequency in their realm than our own due to their lack of physical substance. Our realm having a heavier density and a substantially lower frequency of vibration, causes us to lack the ability to communicate properly with these entities. This assumed fact has been established by the use of electromagnetic field detectors, electronic voice phenomena and various other technology based methods.

Second, ghosts need a substantial amount of energy to manifest in our realm. It is alleged that when an entity is trying to manifest, many amazing environmental changes begin to take place. The area of manifestation becomes increasingly cooler, much colder than it's surroundings and previous readings of the area. The air becomes more dense and significantly charged with electromagnetic energy, hence the common observation of eye witnesses stating that the hairs on the back of their neck stood up. Batteries and sources of energy are occasionally drained or manipulated. Lights flickering or electronic equipment turning on and off may be an example of energy manipulation upon a spirit's attempt to complete formation. This, in theory, is the entity attempting to draw as much energy out the area as possible to visibly manifest. A ghost's energetic temperature signature has been recorded with the help of a thermal camera.

There are many forms that an entity can assume, based on the amount of energy it can consume at that present moment. There is the ominous floating orb of light, the lightweight mist, the dark and sinister looking shadow, various invisible and physically assertive forms and ultimately the fully formed torso apparition. Their abilities to manifest seem to be dependent on the use and availability of some forms of energy. In a home, they utilize lights, batteries and other man-made technologies to enhance their abilities. Outside, where it seems there would be little source of extracting energy, there are ley lines, air charged by naturally occurring friction and electricity as well as various sources of certain rock and minerals.

So, based on this basic information that we living folks have gathered over the years pertaining to the existence of the other side, we can finally put it to good use. My first proposal is that when performing a ghost hunting expedition is to provide an energy source for the entities to utilize. As ghost hunters, much of our technological equipment relies on the premise of being in complete darkness. That is all well and good, but it can deprive the entity of any form of energy to use for manifestation.
In one television episode, our beloved TAPS (The Atlantic Paranormal Society) ghost hunters were working on a case concerning a light house. The entities were heard and seen from the very peak of the lighthouse, but throughout the episode and the general stories from eye witnesses, the spirits rarely ventured far from that area. This episode contained some amazing and clear footage of the entities peering over the railing and coming down the lighthouse stairs. It would seem that this was their chosen home due to, in my opinion, the immense power that the giant light emits or the powerful motor turning the light. I found it interesting how in the event of complete darkness, the entities maintained their visible forms for lengthy periods of time, possibly due using the strongest potential and residual energy light source within the area. Like a moth to a flame, they seemed to cling to the beacon of light.

One must remember how much work and effort it takes for them to transform themselves to our level. They are barely aware of our presence in general, as well as the fact that they cannot perform efficiently in our realm's particular density. Where they exist, it is confusing and foggy at best. For us living people, we could not function in an environment with very little oxygen, we would be disorientated and would have extreme difficulty performing even the most simple of actions. This is how it is for those trying to lower their vibrations from a higher vibration realm, except energy is their oxygen.

A couple of theories that substantiates the need for more energy in the air is that of the noticeable paranormal activity increases during electrical storms and barometric pressure changes. With lightening charging all the particles in the air, the air itself becomes a conduit of pure energy for the spirits to utilize.

There are many examples of communication barriers in our own existence. An example is that of a hearing person and a deaf person. We acknowledge the fact that some people are incapable of understanding what we are trying to say with our voice. We then adapt ourselves to their needs. By using sign language we've established a bridge for crossing the communication gap. In this compassionate and dignified manner, we are respecting the hearing impaired. A ghost isn't any different in that respect. We simply need to adapt ourselves and our perceptions to find a way to communicate.

Psychics in general, if they are truly such and honest, emit a particularly high vibration when attempting to communicate with a ghost. A psychic can actually raises the particle acceleration of their own vibration within their aura and general surroundings allowing a spirit the opportunity to potentially communicate. Everyone though can alter their aura or energy field to communicate with the other side, it simply requires practice and trust in your own abilities. The adapted energy field that a psychic emits is like a virtual beacon to the paranormal. That is why people who are considered sensitives or empathic are more able to potentially attract and communicate with the desired entities.

But seeing that nowadays we desperately want undeniable and factual proof that the ghosts exist, we must utilize human technology as much as possible. The perfect end result being an actual videotaped interview with a spirit exchanging information.

We are called ghost 'hunters' right? Let's break down the implication of a hunter. A hunter travels to the potential prey's location, their natural environment. The hunter sets up various traps, baits and strategies as to best capture his opponent, correct? There are certain rules and common senses that the hunter uses to entice his prey, based on observation and research. Should we apply the term 'hunter' to ourselves as paranormal investigators, we see that we are attempting to 'capture' a certain unpredictable prey. The problem is, we are not complying with the prey's rules.

If it's energy the prey desires, we must comply to the rules. Yes?

If ghosts are drawing energy to themselves to create electromagnetic fields, it must be necessary for them to do this in order to manifest and communicate. We must recreate an energy source from with they can draw so that they can charge their existing density in order to allow more efficient permeability of free space. Essentially luring them in as they are enticed by the energy.

If you become a ghost 'observer' as well as a hunter, you're more likely to understand the nature of the prey. When zoos keep animals in captivity, they observe and then recreate the natural environment of the animal to the best of their abilities, to better understand, appreciate and welcome the animal to it's new habitat.

Shouldn't we then abide by the natural and unnatural environmental requests of the paranormal? We have been attempting to infiltrate this unnatural environment with our own natural understanding of our own laws of physics. We must adapt our thinking to accommodate the experimental environment and habitat of our chosen test subject.

How can we possibly understand a paranormal idea if we do not entertain the idea of altering our own perceptions of normal?

So, in combining the theories that ghosts need energy to manifest and communicate on our realm, we should then attempt to find a source of energy that can be safely placed within the desired area of effect. I think we may have to play with many forms of energy to find a satisfactory suitor, but with patience and trial and error, we will find it.

Recreating high emissions of electromagnetic energy in itself is very dangerous. Studies show that high levels can cause a human very unpleasant symptoms. Nausea, paranoia and dizziness are among the common symptoms, not to mention hallucinations. Many hauntings have been debunked due to high levels of electromagnetic energy found in a home. Poor wiring and older technology are just a few items that can produce these emissions.

There are many safe forms of creating usable energy. I would suggest trying static electricity. Remember back in science class when the teacher brought out the static ball machine. It's called a Van DeGraff Generator. It can safely produce between 200,000 and 250,000 volts, creating enough charge to make the average person's hair stand completely on end. It can literally create a miniature lightning effect within a controlled circumference, therefore charging the atmosphere, possibly enough to help enable a spirit to manifest.

One woman that contacted me about a potential haunting in her home said she often heard the sound of static electricity popping before a strange and unexplained paranormal event would occur in her home. Similar to the sound preceding and following an EVP recording.

These are just examples in how to expand your perception, and help you understand that there are ideas out there yet to be discovered. Don't limit yourselves and your experiments to only what you have learned from others, explore and trust your instincts. You may just be the one to discover the true secrets hiding behind the paranormal veil.

With all ghost hunting expeditions, safety is number one. Getting the evidence you want is a definite plus, but we must remember to treat both the homeowner and unseen house guest with both respect and dignity.]]>

Lights flickering or electronic equipment turning on and off may be an example of energy manipulation upon a spirit's attempt to complete formation. This, in theory, is the entity attempting to draw as much energy out the area as possible to visibly manifest. A ghost's energetic temperature signature has been recorded with the help of a thermal camera.

There are many forms that an entity can assume, based on the amount of energy it can consume at that present moment. There is the ominous floating orb of light, the lightweight mist, the dark and sinister looking shadow, various invisible and physically assertive forms and ultimately the fully formed torso apparition. Their abilities to manifest seem to be dependent on the use and availability of some forms of energy. In a home, they utilize lights, batteries and other man-made technologies to enhance their abilities. Outside, where it seems there would be little source of extracting energy, there are ley lines, air charged by naturally occurring friction and electricity as well as various sources of certain rock and minerals.

So, based on this basic information that we living folks have gathered over the years pertaining to the existence of the other side, we can finally put it to good use. My first proposal is that when performing a ghost hunting expedition is to provide an energy source for the entities to utilize. As ghost hunters, much of our technological equipment relies on the premise of being in complete darkness. That is all well and good, but it can deprive the entity of any form of energy to use for manifestation.
In one television episode, our beloved TAPS (The Atlantic Paranormal Society) ghost hunters were working on a case concerning a light house. The entities were heard and seen from the very peak of the lighthouse, but throughout the episode and the general stories from eye witnesses, the spirits rarely ventured far from that area. This episode contained some amazing and clear footage of the entities peering over the railing and coming down the lighthouse stairs. It would seem that this was their chosen home due to, in my opinion, the immense power that the giant light emits or the powerful motor turning the light. I found it interesting how in the event of complete darkness, the entities maintained their visible forms for lengthy periods of time, possibly due using the strongest potential and residual energy light source within the area. Like a moth to a flame, they seemed to cling to the beacon of light.

One must remember how much work and effort it takes for them to transform themselves to our level. They are barely aware of our presence in general, as well as the fact that they cannot perform efficiently in our realm's particular density. Where they exist, it is confusing and foggy at best. For us living people, we could not function in an environment with very little oxygen, we would be disorientated and would have extreme difficulty performing even the most simple of actions. This is how it is for those trying to lower their vibrations from a higher vibration realm, except energy is their oxygen.

A couple of theories that substantiates the need for more energy in the air is that of the noticeable paranormal activity increases during electrical storms and barometric pressure changes. With lightening charging all the particles in the air, the air itself becomes a conduit of pure energy for the spirits to utilize.

There are many examples of communication barriers in our own existence. An example is that of a hearing person and a deaf person. We acknowledge the fact that some people are incapable of understanding what we are trying to say with our voice. We then adapt ourselves to their needs. By using sign language we've established a bridge for crossing the communication gap. In this compassionate and dignified manner, we are respecting the hearing impaired. A ghost isn't any different in that respect. We simply need to adapt ourselves and our perceptions to find a way to communicate.

Psychics in general, if they are truly such and honest, emit a particularly high vibration when attempting to communicate with a ghost. A psychic can actually raises the particle acceleration of their own vibration within their aura and general surroundings allowing a spirit the opportunity to potentially communicate. Everyone though can alter their aura or energy field to communicate with the other side, it simply requires practice and trust in your own abilities. The adapted energy field that a psychic emits is like a virtual beacon to the paranormal. That is why people who are considered sensitives or empathic are more able to potentially attract and communicate with the desired entities.

But seeing that nowadays we desperately want undeniable and factual proof that the ghosts exist, we must utilize human technology as much as possible. The perfect end result being an actual videotaped interview with a spirit exchanging information.

We are called ghost 'hunters' right? Let's break down the implication of a hunter. A hunter travels to the potential prey's location, their natural environment. The hunter sets up various traps, baits and strategies as to best capture his opponent, correct? There are certain rules and common senses that the hunter uses to entice his prey, based on observation and research. Should we apply the term 'hunter' to ourselves as paranormal investigators, we see that we are attempting to 'capture' a certain unpredictable prey. The problem is, we are not complying with the prey's rules.

If it's energy the prey desires, we must comply to the rules. Yes?

If ghosts are drawing energy to themselves to create electromagnetic fields, it must be necessary for them to do this in order to manifest and communicate. We must recreate an energy source from with they can draw so that they can charge their existing density in order to allow more efficient permeability of free space. Essentially luring them in as they are enticed by the energy.

If you become a ghost 'observer' as well as a hunter, you're more likely to understand the nature of the prey. When zoos keep animals in captivity, they observe and then recreate the natural environment of the animal to the best of their abilities, to better understand, appreciate and welcome the animal to it's new habitat.

Shouldn't we then abide by the natural and unnatural environmental requests of the paranormal? We have been attempting to infiltrate this unnatural environment with our own natural understanding of our own laws of physics. We must adapt our thinking to accommodate the experimental environment and habitat of our chosen test subject.

How can we possibly understand a paranormal idea if we do not entertain the idea of altering our own perceptions of normal?

So, in combining the theories that ghosts need energy to manifest and communicate on our realm, we should then attempt to find a source of energy that can be safely placed within the desired area of effect. I think we may have to play with many forms of energy to find a satisfactory suitor, but with patience and trial and error, we will find it.

Recreating high emissions of electromagnetic energy in itself is very dangerous. Studies show that high levels can cause a human very unpleasant symptoms. Nausea, paranoia and dizziness are among the common symptoms, not to mention hallucinations. Many hauntings have been debunked due to high levels of electromagnetic energy found in a home. Poor wiring and older technology are just a few items that can produce these emissions.

There are many safe forms of creating usable energy. I would suggest trying static electricity. Remember back in science class when the teacher brought out the static ball machine. It's called a Van DeGraff Generator. It can safely produce between 200,000 and 250,000 volts, creating enough charge to make the average person's hair stand completely on end. It can literally create a miniature lightning effect within a controlled circumference, therefore charging the atmosphere, possibly enough to help enable a spirit to manifest.

One woman that contacted me about a potential haunting in her home said she often heard the sound of static electricity popping before a strange and unexplained paranormal event would occur in her home. Similar to the sound preceding and following an EVP recording.

These are just examples in how to expand your perception, and help you understand that there are ideas out there yet to be discovered. Don't limit yourselves and your experiments to only what you have learned from others, explore and trust your instincts. You may just be the one to discover the true secrets hiding behind the paranormal veil.

With all ghost hunting expeditions, safety is number one. A True Tale Of A Truly Haunted House

This tale of a haunted house is true and because it is, every other haunted house story you have ever read also may be true. It was written by a patient of William Wilmer, after whom the Johns Hopkins Wilmer Eye Clinic is named, and published by Wilmer in the American Journal of Ophthalmology in 1921. His patient, Mrs. H, describes what happened after her family and servants moved on November 15, 1912, into a “large, rambling, high-studded house, built around 1870, and much out of repair.

“It had not been occupied for the owners for the past ten years, though occasionally it had been rented for the winter. The house was situated on a sunny street, and although the sun bathed the outside of the house, it rarely seemed to penetrate through the tall and narrow windows. All the floors and stairways were heavily carpeted. Absolute silence reigned through the house, not a foot-fall could be heard. There was no electricity, the house being lit throughout by gas. …

“G [Mr. H] and I had not been in the house more than a couple of days when we felt very depressed. The house was overpoweringly quiet. The servants walked about on thickly carpeted floors so quietly that I could not even hear them at their work.

“One morning I heard footsteps in the room over my head. I hurried up the stairs. To my surprise the room was empty. I passed into the next room, and then into all the rooms on that floor, and then to the floor above, to find that I was the only person in that part of the house.

“I had not been in the house more than a couple of weeks when I began to have severe headaches and to feel weak and tired. I took iron pills three times a day and spent a couple of hours each afternoon in my room, lying down and resting, a rather discouraging process, as after resting my headache was always worse than it had been before.

“It had always been G’s habit at night before going to bed to sit in the dining room and eat some fruit. In this house when seated at night at the table with his back to the hall, he invariably felt as if someone was behind him, watching him. He therefore turned his chair, to be able to watch what was going on in the hall.

“The children grew pale and listless and lost their appetites. The playroom at the top of the house they deserted. In spite of their rocking horse and toys being there, they begged to be allowed to play and have lessons in their bedroom.

“I grew more tired and indifferent to everything, and also felt very cold in the evenings, and wore shawls and scarves most of the time. The children seemed so poorly and I was so tired, I took them away the day after Christmas for the holidays.

“While we were away, G was frequently disturbed at night. Several times he was awakened by a bell ringing, but on going to the front and back doors, he could find no one at either. Also several times he was awakened by what he thought was the telephone bell. One night he was roused by hearing the fire department dashing up the street and coming to a stop nearby. He hurried to the window and found the street quiet and deserted.

“Soon after the New Year, the children and I, with the nurses, returned to the house. We all felt better for our change and returned quite glad to settle down again. Soon, however, the gloom of the house began to cast a shadow over us once more. The children grew paler and had heavy colds. When out of doors their colds grew less and they seemed better.

“My headaches returned, and I frequently felt as if a string had been tied tightly around my left arm. One night I was awakened by a heavy door slamming quite near me. It woke G too, and he said to me, ‘What was that?’ ‘Only the door of the room,’ I replied; but as I grew more wide awake I realized that it could not be any one of the doors of the room as they were tightly closed.

“Another time, a little before daylight, I was awakened by heavy footsteps going down a staircase behind the wall at the head of my bed. Then a number of crashes downstairs, as if several pots and pans had been hit together or against the kitchen stove. Soon I realized that there was no staircase behind the wall, only the thickly carpeted front stairs on which no footsteps could be heard. Also that it would be impossible in my room to hear any sounds from the kitchen, no matter how loud.

“On one occasion, in the middle of the morning, as I passed from the drawing room into the dining room, I was surprised to see at the further end of the dining room, coming towards me, a strange woman, dark haired and dressed in black. As I walked steadily on into the dining room to meet her, she disappeared, and in her place I saw a reflection of myself in the mirror, dressed in a light silk waist. I laughed at myself, and wondered how the lights and mirrors could have played me such a trick. This happened three different times, always with the same surprise to me and the same relief when the vision turned into myself.

“As I was dressing for breakfast one morning B (four years old) came to my room and asked me why I had called him. I told him that I had not called him; that I had not been in his room. With big and startled eyes, he said, ‘Who was it then that called me? Who made that pounding noise?’ I told him it was undoubtedly the wind rattling his window. ‘No,’ he said, ‘it was not that, it was somebody that called me. Who was it?’ And so on he talked, insisting that he had been called, and for me to explain who it had been.

“The days went on, and the children grew paler and more listless. Some days, as their colds seemed worse, I kept them in bed. Then again, as there did not seem to be very much the matter with them and they appeared to be growing too fond of staying in bed, I made them get up and go for a walk in the sun. It was very hard to make them eat. B would play vigorously for a little while, and then would lie, stretched out, limp and listless upon the floor, a toy in front of him clasped in his hand, his eyes glued upon it and yet apparently neither seeing nor thinking about it. About half an hour later, perhaps, he would suddenly get up and play again.

“About this time my plants died. Some of them I had had for a number of years. At this time I had a cold and cough, and ached all over as if I were going to have an attack of flu, but as I had no fever, I went about as usual. G was not feeling at all well either. He had a great deal of pain at the back of his head and felt as if he was going to have typhoid fever for a second time. The servants, too, had grown pale and moved about the house listlessly.

“On the night of January 15 we went to the opera. That night I had vague and strange dreams, which appeared to last for hours. When the morning came, I felt too tired and ill to get up. G told me that in the middle of the night he woke up, feeling as if someone had grabbed him by the throat and was trying to strangle him. He sat up in bed and had a violent fit of coughing, which lasted about five minutes. His first thought had been that burglars were in the house, but as everything was quiet he instantly dismissed that idea. It then flashed across his mind that I had been playing a joke on him, but upon looking at me, he saw that I was in a heavy sleep, very much as if I had been drugged. Until we lived in this house, I had always been a light sleeper, waking at the slightest sound. In this house, however, nothing seemed to wake or disturb me. Quite the contrary with G, for in the past he had always slept heavily, never hearing a sound and nothing disturbed him. Now he was continually waking, answering the telephone and the doorbell, which had never rung, and looking for burglars, who never materialized.

“That morning after breakfast, as was my usual custom, I sent for the children’s nurse, a Scotch woman who had lived with me for several years. She looked worn out, and when I asked how the children had slept she burst out with, ‘It has been a most terrible night. This house is haunted.’

“I laughingly told her that that was the most ridiculous thing I had ever heard. ‘I would have said the same thing three months ago,’ she answered, ‘but I have had such experiences that I am now convinced of it, and everyone in the house has had experiences too.’ She said that after being in the house two or three days, things had begun to happen. She had not told me before, as she and the rest of the household had made up their minds that I ought not to be disturbed about it. ‘But last night,’ she continued, ‘when the children were attacked, it became my duty to let you know at once. While you were at the opera,’ she went on, ‘about half past eight, B woke up and ran screaming through the hall to my room, “Don’t let that big fat man touch me.” He was terrified. It took Fraulein and me until ten o’clock to calm him. He slept the rest of the night with me, in my room. Fraulein slept in B’s bed, besides G Jr., to protect him.

“G Jr. did not wake up all night but the muscles of his face kept twitching, as if someone was continually pinching him. In the morning when he woke, he said indignantly to Fraulein, “Why have you been sitting on top of me?” And when she told him that she had not been sitting upon him, but had been in the bed next to him, he said, “No, you have been sitting on top of me, and you were awfully heavy, too.”

‘Often in the evening, after the children have gone to bed, never until after dark and the lights are lighted, Fraulein and I may be laughing and talking, when all of a sudden we hear the heavy tread of an old man walking slowly and steadily along the hall on the floor above us. It has not been one of the servants, for I have often run up stairs to see, and I have found the whole upper story of the house in darkness and empty. Sometimes as I walk along the hall I feel as if someone was following me, going to touch me. You cannot understand it if you have not experienced it, but it is real.

‘Some nights after I have been in bed for a while, I have felt as if the bed clothes were jerked off me, and I have also felt as if I had been struck on the shoulder. One night I woke up and saw sitting on the foot of my bed a man and a woman. The woman was young, dark and slight, and wore a large picture hat. The man was older, smooth shaven and a little bald. I was paralyzed and could not move, when suddenly I felt a tap on my shoulder and I was able to sit up, and the man and the woman faded away. Sometimes, after I have gone to bed, the noises from the storeroom are tremendous. It does not happen every night; perhaps a week or ten days will pass, and then again it may be several nights in succession. Sometimes it sounds as if furniture was being piled against the door, as if china was being moved about, and occasionally a long and fearful sigh or wail.’

“The governess, Fraulein Y, then came to me. She also spoke of the heavy footsteps at night – like an old man in overshoes walking slowly along. She also heard the noise in the storeroom, the moving and piling up of furniture. She slept in a big, four-post bed, with a canopy. One night, after she had been in bed a little while, she felt the bed shaken, and the canopy swayed. Thinking that a draught from the open windows might be causing the sensation, she got up and closed them. She returned to bed, and after a short time the shaking of the bed was repeated. Again she got up, examined the room thoroughly, but was unable to unearth anything.

“I interviewed all the servants in turn. They all had heard at some time or another, the footsteps at night going slowly along the corridor outside of their rooms. Each one at first had thought it one of the others, and was surprised, after inquiring, to find none of them about. They all spoke of strange experiences after they had gone to bed; as if something crept around the bed and then over them, and then they were unable to move. Sometimes it lasted for a long time, sometimes shorter. Not every night, but perhaps every second or third night. It never happened to them all on the same night, but to one and then to another.

“Much amused as we were by all these tales, we nevertheless felt as if there was a serious aspect to it. Why had all the servants whom we had had for several years, gone practically mad all of a sudden? We began to trace back the history of the house. The last occupants we found had exactly the same experiences as ourselves, with the exception that they stated that some of them had seen creeping around their beds visions clad in purple and white. Going back still further, we learned that almost everyone had felt ill and had been under the doctor’s care, although nothing very definite had been found the matter with them.

“Saturday morning, the eighteenth of January, G’s brother told us that he thought we were all being poisoned; that several years before he had read an article which told how a whole family had been poisoned by gas and had had the most curious delusions and experiences. He advised us to see Professor S at once. As he was out of town, his assistant, Mr. S, came at once to our house.

“We told him how listless and ill the children appeared. He found one of them lying on the floor, and the other two in bed. We related the experiences of the children and servants, and told him about the plants. He examined the house thoroughly from top to bottom and interviewed the servants. He found the furnace in a very bad condition, the combustion being imperfect, the fumes, instead of going up the chimney, were pouring gases of carbon monoxide into our rooms. He advised us not to let the children sleep in the house another night. If they did, he said we might find in the morning that some one of them would never wake again.

“Early in the afternoon our physician arrived and examined the children and agreed with Mr. S that they were being poisoned. … He also stated that none of us ought to stay in the house another night.”

Here ends the account of Mrs. H. According to Dr. Wilmer, Mrs. H and her family all eventually recovered and never again reported seeing, hearing or feeling any ghosts. Many victims of carbon monoxide poisoning are not so lucky, however, and continue to suffer from similar symptoms for years, even after their exposure ends. Given that carbon monoxide is still the most common cause of toxic poisonings and deaths in America, it is probably still a common cause of haunted houses.

If you or others in your home ever experience any of the ghostly symptoms reported by Mrs. H, you should have your furnace, oven and other gas appliances inspected by a professional for carbon monoxide. While it is also a good idea to install carbon monoxide alarms, these are designed only to save your life from very high levels of carbon monoxide exposure and may not warn you of the lower levels known to cause headaches, depression and the other symptoms reported by Mrs. H.]]>

“G Jr. did not wake up all night but the muscles of his face kept twitching, as if someone was continually pinching him. In the morning when he woke, he said indignantly to Fraulein, “Why have you been sitting on top of me?” And when she told him that she had not been sitting upon him, but had been in the bed next to him, he said, “No, you have been sitting on top of me, and you were awfully heavy, too.”

‘Often in the evening, after the children have gone to bed, never until after dark and the lights are lighted, Fraulein and I may be laughing and talking, when all of a sudden we hear the heavy tread of an old man walking slowly and steadily along the hall on the floor above us. It has not been one of the servants, for I have often run up stairs to see, and I have found the whole upper story of the house in darkness and empty. Sometimes as I walk along the hall I feel as if someone was following me, going to touch me. You cannot understand it if you have not experienced it, but it is real.

‘Some nights after I have been in bed for a while, I have felt as if the bed clothes were jerked off me, and I have also felt as if I had been struck on the shoulder. One night I woke up and saw sitting on the foot of my bed a man and a woman. The woman was young, dark and slight, and wore a large picture hat. The man was older, smooth shaven and a little bald. I was paralyzed and could not move, when suddenly I felt a tap on my shoulder and I was able to sit up, and the man and the woman faded away. Sometimes, after I have gone to bed, the noises from the storeroom are tremendous. It does not happen every night; perhaps a week or ten days will pass, and then again it may be several nights in succession. Sometimes it sounds as if furniture was being piled against the door, as if china was being moved about, and occasionally a long and fearful sigh or wail.’

“The governess, Fraulein Y, then came to me. She also spoke of the heavy footsteps at night – like an old man in overshoes walking slowly along. She also heard the noise in the storeroom, the moving and piling up of furniture. She slept in a big, four-post bed, with a canopy. One night, after she had been in bed a little while, she felt the bed shaken, and the canopy swayed. Thinking that a draught from the open windows might be causing the sensation, she got up and closed them. She returned to bed, and after a short time the shaking of the bed was repeated. Again she got up, examined the room thoroughly, but was unable to unearth anything.

“I interviewed all the servants in turn. They all had heard at some time or another, the footsteps at night going slowly along the corridor outside of their rooms. Each one at first had thought it one of the others, and was surprised, after inquiring, to find none of them about. They all spoke of strange experiences after they had gone to bed; as if something crept around the bed and then over them, and then they were unable to move. Sometimes it lasted for a long time, sometimes shorter. Not every night, but perhaps every second or third night. It never happened to them all on the same night, but to one and then to another.

“Much amused as we were by all these tales, we nevertheless felt as if there was a serious aspect to it. Why had all the servants whom we had had for several years, gone practically mad all of a sudden? We began to trace back the history of the house. The last occupants we found had exactly the same experiences as ourselves, with the exception that they stated that some of them had seen creeping around their beds visions clad in purple and white. Going back still further, we learned that almost everyone had felt ill and had been under the doctor’s care, although nothing very definite had been found the matter with them.

“Saturday morning, the eighteenth of January, G’s brother told us that he thought we were all being poisoned; that several years before he had read an article which told how a whole family had been poisoned by gas and had had the most curious delusions and experiences. He advised us to see Professor S at once. As he was out of town, his assistant, Mr. S, came at once to our house.

“We told him how listless and ill the children appeared. He found one of them lying on the floor, and the other two in bed. We related the experiences of the children and servants, and told him about the plants. He examined the house thoroughly from top to bottom and interviewed the servants. He found the furnace in a very bad condition, the combustion being imperfect, the fumes, instead of going up the chimney, were pouring gases of carbon monoxide into our rooms. He advised us not to let the children sleep in the house another night. If they did, he said we might find in the morning that some one of them would never wake again.

“Early in the afternoon our physician arrived and examined the children and agreed with Mr. S that they were being poisoned. … He also stated that none of us ought to stay in the house another night.”

Here ends the account of Mrs. H. According to Dr. Wilmer, Mrs. H and her family all eventually recovered and never again reported seeing, hearing or feeling any ghosts. Many victims of carbon monoxide poisoning are not so lucky, however, and continue to suffer from similar symptoms for years, even after their exposure ends. Since its discovery in the early 1950’s, Electronic Voice Phenomenon or (Evp) has been widely studied by paranormal researchers from around the globe. We have all been fascinated as well as confused by our findings and are constantly searching for more answers to our questions.

With today’s technology, which is growing at a very rapid rate, we sometimes become engulfed in its possible capabilities. This technology has both helped and hurt us, causing some researchers to miss the "big picture" and focus more on quantity then quality of our Evp. Sure, being "up to date" has its advantages but we must ask ourselves this: "Did past researchers need this to capture the phenomenon?" The answer is simply, no, they did not. Some of the best Evp that I have ever heard came from what we call "Old School" recording devices such as Reel to Reel or analog recorders. These devises are what the phenomenon was discovered with, so why do we not use them now? The answer to that would be technology. With new recording devices and computers, this older equipment has almost become obsolete! In the lessons, we provide at Haunted Voices, I have instructed hundreds of people on the basics of Electronic Voice Phenomena, and some of them have never even heard of an analog recording device.

So just how serious are today’s Evp researchers? Trust me they are very serious, however, with all of the "hype" and publicity that Evp has gathered over the past few years many of them are left in the dark. It seems that no one has taken the time to explain to them either the basis of Evp or how it was discovered. Some look at paranormal research as a hobby or something to do when we have the time but I assure you that those of us who do this on a full time basis find this quite shocking. Most of us will jump at the chance and take the time to explain it to those in need. This is somewhat of a silent oath we took and something that we feel we owe to our fellow researchers. It doesn’t take very long at all to spread the word about it and shed some light on the past Evp Pioneers. Trust me, those you enlighten will thank you for it in the end. A collogue of mine, Jeremy Pippin woke me up to this and I would not only like to thank him for doing so, but hope it helps some of you. For a moment now, let’s talk about the Quality verses Quantity issue. As researchers, we need to work as a whole in order to achieve this goal. There are far to many "Territorial" individuals out there who feel it is their way or no way and that they will single handedly solve the mystery. This folks, has to be one of the most ridiculous claims I have ever heard of! I personally feel this will be a group effort and not a single endeavor. With a higher Quality of EVP, comes not only reassurance of life after death, but also a reassurance to its existence at all. I have processed thousands of "so called" Evp and have heard everything from the recording of a television program to a screaming coffee maker! Now, how do you think the general public sees this? I promise you, they are laughing in our faces. People, these EVP’s are not hidden, these are everywhere on the World Wide Web! As researchers, we have to take this very seriously and can’t just blow it off thinking, "Well I didn’t record it so it doesn’t effect me". Oh, it most certainly does! So, lets all do what we can to prevent this virus from spreading; educate these individuals, DO NOT make fun of them! EVP quantity seems to be the goal and focus for many groups and websites out there. This has gotten way out of hand and really needs to be addressed by someone. If I hear one more person say, "Well, we have more Evp on our site then they do", I’m going to be sick. Is there some kind of Oscar award given for this that I’m not aware of? People seem to be getting so caught up in the latest craze that they are missing the point and looking at the paranormal as a competition and not research. Peers and critics do not judge you by how many you have captured, but instead, by the Quality of those you have obtained. Quality is the key word here people, and to obtain and realize this Quality you must be educated. You can’t just fly by the seat of your pants! There are several organizations, which are devoted to Evp education; Haunted Voices, American Association of Electronic Voice Phenomena (AAEVP) and the International Ghost Hunters Society just to name a few. So, take the time to look them up, find one that best suits you, and by all means, educate yourself. These groups have made the mistakes and learned from them so you don’t have to.

Some of you may have taken offense to the above statements while others will support them. As I tend to voice my opinion and often have little regard for the controversy that follows. My way of thinking is what makes me a unique individual. I take full responsibility for the above statements and urge you to submit your comments and concerns to me personally. With that said let us get back on track here. We have all used the classification system but do we really know how it works? This infamous system, was developed by my very close friend and mentor, Sarah Estep, has been used by all of us to classify our Evp files. I am talking about the A, B, and C filing system. This method of classification makes it easy, and has created a universal method, for analyzing our Evp. It is immediately recognized and still used to this day! Now let’s get to the heart of this article and talk about Classification. Lets first start with the Class A Evp. A Class A Evp is one that is very audible and can be clearly understood without the use of computer or software intervention. These classifications, as well as the next two were developed by Sarah Estep to simplify our recordings. At Haunted Voices, we like to have our Evp files confirmed by 2 or more individuals before classifying them as an A. This helps to ensure their authenticity as well as their quality. Class A Evp are very rare, and although I have captured the majority of them on analog recorders, I have captured a few on the digital as well. To hear one of these classes, is unmistakable, and you should be able to do so without the use of headphones and straight from the recording device itself. Try not to mistake these for background noise or talking as this is one of the biggest traps for "false positives". While in a recording session, be aware of your surroundings and try to note as many natural sounds as you can. As a rule, if you can hear it, note it! This will eliminate many of us scratching our heads later. Once all of this has been eliminated and you can identify the voice as authentic and not background, then and only then should you begin your classification process. I have captured the majority of my Class A Evp by using the common Stationary Method where you simply set the recorder in a desired area and leave it to do its job. I have also captured them by using the Question & Answer method and this is a great way to help prove human and spirit interaction. You decide which method is best for you. Make this decision on your own and try not to be influenced by others. As long as you hold the education and are aware of each method available, then you are more then ready to make your own judgment and build your own recording foundation. Class B Evp recordings are somewhat similar to a Class A but are not clearly heard by all. These recordings are usually mixed messages or jumbled words that the researcher can not clearly make out. These are not always at a lower capture volume and are sometimes just as audible or even more audible then a Class A. These seem to be the second most common Evp capture and although some can be cleaned or enhanced with software intervention, once a Class B always a Class B no matter how clear it becomes. You simply can not change the classification just because you weaseled your way into making it clear. The original capture value needs to be respected. Sure, its fine to post it saying it was cleaned or enhanced but be sure to let them know that it required your assistance to make it legible; don’t change the classification just to suit your needs or reputation. Class B captures can be some of the most frustrating little files you have ever encountered, but then again, everyone enjoys a good challenge don’t they?

No one clearly knows or understands why some of the words are jumbled or inaudible but this could be due to background interference, dimensional barriers, recorder or microphone quality, or just plain signal interruption. Personally, I have captured the majority of my Class B files using the digital recorder during the Question & Answer method. Although I really enjoy the challenge of these files, and hope you do as well, please feel free to contact our Evp analysis department should you become too frustrated or just want some simple clarification. We will be more then happy to assist you in any way possible. Class C Evp captures are, by far, one of the most common. These files are mostly inaudible or very low whispers and usually require software intervention. Many researchers simply "toss" these aside, or even delete them entirely and I like to call this "Spirit Prejudice". These files are just as important as the rest and should be treated with just as much respect. If you were talking to an audience and opened the floor for questions, but couldn’t hear the question from the person in the back of the room, what would you do? You would either ask them to speak louder or go to that person directly. You wouldn’t just ignore them, would you? Well this is the same concept. Some of these Class C Evp’s can be enhanced enough to make sense, however others just can’t be helped. These files, however, should be kept on file because as we talked about before, technology is creeping up on us and who knows what the road ahead will bring us! There are several programs out there with a wide variety of features to help you enhance or process Evp files but please don’t overuse them, or use them as a crutch. Some of these Class X reversals do sound like "gibberish" or "garbled" and some feel it is all in our heads, but can they say for sure? No, they sure can’t and that is what keeps us battling for the truth of the phenomena and why we should respect it more then we do.

To me, reverse meanings in an Evp are not demonic, back masking, or subliminal occurrences, but something that simply can not be explained. Could this be a dimensional flip? Possible frequency change or just timing? No one knows why this occurs and that is what makes is so intriguing to us. So, do not judge a person by their beliefs, as this is not the answer. We have all sat back and wondered just how or why voices from the other side would want to talk with us. Is this just some kind of interference or some kind of hoax? No one knows the true answer to these questions but we do know that voices have indeed been recorded. Many researchers have captured voices and we are able to hear them just fine, but there are some spirits that for some reason cannot communicate as clear. I feel that these spirits have a right to be heard and treated just the same as others. This is where the use of sound editing software comes into play.

Now, I do agree with most of the comments made about using software to enhance or clean your recordings, but I feel some are simply missing the big picture. Editing software should only be used if necessary and not as a standard crutch. If you are serious about your research and communicating with spirits from the other side then you must treat all recordings or E.V.P. as equals. There is a classing system for these recordings with A being the best/highest and C being the worst/lowest grade and this is a great system to work with. I have captured a lot of faint voices on my recordings and feel they are just as important as the class A’s that I have received. Like it or not this is communication with the other side even though it can be faint. Using software to enhance this just makes them easier to understand, and who knows, one of these faint voices just may answer a few of our questions if we take the time and effort to listen.

There are many recordings that I have heard that are, to put it lightly, "butchered" due to over correction. It is those recordings that have given the use of enhancement software a bad name. Most of the others choose not to use it in fear of what others may say about their evidence or credibility. I for one use my own thoughts and approaches and I am not in competition with anyone. I am merely seeking answers like everyone else. With the use of software you are able to hear what the human ear normally couldn’t and this, to me, is a breakthrough for us. Unfortunately, the use of software is often abused. For those that don’t take the time to learn how to use it correctly, you are not helping the field of paranormal research, but hurting it. For those that do choose to use the software correctly, thank you for taking the time and effort to make even more communication with the other side possible.

I have been working with editing software for several years now and I can honestly say that I have never faked or altered any of my recordings. I have only cleaned and enhanced them, as this is what the software should be used for. Let’s take a couple of E.V.P. for example here and compare a few things. First, for those of you that follow the studies of reverse speech this would be for you. I have captured several E.V.P. noting that a majority of these recordings have what Dr. Jimmy Lowery has coined as "reverse vocal impressions". Could this be subconscious *? Sure it could, do I believe it is? No, I do not. Lets take for instance one particular E.V.P. that was recorded with a reversal E.V.P. from one of my investigations. The recording was heard with a forward meaning of "Please help me" and in reverse it stated "into the light". This was to say the least, an eye opener for us and would have not realized this had occurred without the use of editing software.

After realizing what we had stumbled on, we then began to try a few experiments using this theory and placed 3 recorders in one area and conducted a question/answer session. After listening to the recordings we found that on one of the recorders the E.V.P. was in forward speech and on our other recorder the same message was recorded in reverse. This was fascinating to me, while at the same time confusing. One thing it did prove to me though was the possibility that "reverse vocal impression" does occur and is an added bonus phenomenon in E.V.P. research. Second, how many of us have heard a faint voice captured on our cassettes or digital recorders but just can’t seem to make it out? There are so many researchers that will simply toss these aside or simply delete and move on because: 1. They are too lazy to make adjustments needed or, 2. They fear what others will say about them. This is a terrible problem and no one should fear what others are going to think when it comes to research because we simply don’t know, no one does. The only concern you should have is, how are we going to find out if we don’t try everything we can? The simple tool to use for hearing those faint recorders is called amplification and this is not in any way altering the E.V.P. All amplification does is push any vocals recorded to the front. For example, when you hear a good song on the radio but you are in the other room, what do you do? You want to turn that song up don’t you? In my opinion this is similar to enhancing your E.V.P., now are you altering that song when you turn it up? No. You are just making it easier to hear.

So why does everyone fear or dislike using software? I truly cannot answer this question and it brings up more questions than answers, as you can see from above. This is why you use it as a tool and not a crutch (as stated earlier). I personally just think that editing software is getting a bad name in paranormal research for the wrong reasons. I have even come up with a name for it, "Spirit Prejudice". All spirits should be treated as equals just as we like to be, no matter how faint or brief their messages is to us. To me they are all a puzzle piece and we cannot complete the puzzle without all of the pieces. Some just choose to put together an easier puzzle then others.

In closing, if all of us work together were going to accomplish so much more than we would alone. We should all be trying not to make fun of or badmouth others for their theories and ideas, but respect all of them as if they were our own. This is not a popularity contest or a mad dash for a Pulitzer Prize here, but research, and with research there are ups and downs as well as the good and bad, but lets not make it worse than it already is. There are plenty of people out there that choose to humiliate or ridicule us for what we believe in and do. Why some people make it worse by purposefully causing conflict within the field is beyond me. Are they that insecure with their own beliefs that they have to make fun of others to get the extra step up on the paranormal ladder? I surly hope not. I also hope that we can all finally start to work together as one and perhaps solve this possibly infinite investigation into the paranormal. For as I have said, and will continue to say, it is only through sharing that we will learn and get anywhere.

This however does not explain the change in voice from male to female (and visa versa), foretelling of events to come, direct answers to questions there is no way anyone present during the recording could know, as well as several other facts that have been recorded.]]>

I put the quote above by Albert Einstein to illustrate some things often overlooked in the paranormal field. The reality to the world around us is very vast and our science can not explain very much of it today. When we look at spirits and the spiritual side, it’s easy to see why science can only go so far at detecting and explaining it.

I feel science is important out there in the paranormal field. Some theories out there can be understood, explained or discounted just knowing some science. So here, I will attempt to put what science you need out there to understand.

This is just about the only way to understand my own theory that I have, that came to me by my own inner knowledge and experience with spirits.

This is an attempt to for those interested to give you a possible view of what is actually happening with the use of Science and Spiritual inner knowledge. This handbook is written for a reference and not meant for you to remember all the details, but, to teach some concepts to possibly understand more about the spiritual world and what could actually be happening.

Everything in Our World is Energy

E=mc² is Einstein’s theory of relativity from 1905. Yes, it’s been around quite some time. What does this mean? Don’t worry, I’m not going to go into the entire width of what this means. But, just enough to point out some of it’s implications that would concern the science to understand what spirits might or might not be. This little equation says quite a lot and goes far beyond what I will discuss here. But, it does say this; "Energy equals matter" (energy equals mass (of matter) times the speed of light squared). This means, all life, all things are made up of energy. Matter is energy, but, in a different form.

All things including the air we breathe, the items in your house, you and me, everything you see around you is made up of matter. The smallest molecules of matter are atoms. Each atom has electrons, protons and neutrons. Electrons are negatively charged. Protons are positively charged. Neutrons are neutrally charged. Meaning, atoms are essentially energy.

Now, you don’t have to remember all this. There is no test at the end. You only have to read it and grasp the concept that atoms are essentially energy. Therefore all matter is energy, just in a different form.

So when we say; "Energy can neither be created nor destroyed." that refers to matter as well.

Our world is energy. That’s the reality. For an example; light a match. Have you just created energy? Not really. The energy is already there, just in a different form presented in atoms of what makes up the match before it is lit and changes when the match is lit. You can see how this theory of energy applies to matter as well.

5 States of Matter Currently Known By Science 1. Bose-Einstein Condensates 2. Solids 3. Liquids 4. Gases 5. Plasmas

These are the 5 states of matter currently known by science. They are in order of how close the molecules or atoms are to each other. The first one (Condensates) have the atoms closest together. The last (Plasma) have the atoms furthest apart.

Don’t concern yourself with the first state of matter (Condensates), as it doesn’t apply at all to what I am discussing here. I will leave the discussion of what they are out, as to not confuse you. I only list Condensates here, to show there are actually 5 states of matter known to science today.

Our entire world consists of matter in the states listed above. (Well, there may be more that science does not know of yet.) I believe most people will be familiar with Solid, Liquid and Gas states of matter. So I will skip explaining them here. However, Plasma will be discussed later.

Charge and No Charge... What is energy?

Atoms are usually balanced out by positive and negative charges. This is because they have the same number of protons (positive charges) and electrons (negative charges). So, unless an electron or proton is missing, you have a neutral charge. That’s because the electrons and protons cancel themselves out and are a neutral charge. A piece of metal for instance would have a neutral charge and be undetectable to an electro magnetic field detector (EMF detector).

Plasma however, is positively charged. You can find plasma in florescent lights, lightening, neon lights and in plasma balls. The atoms are further apart than gas. The other types matter listed are neutral. Matter can become charged, like electricity in wiring or filament in a light bulb. When there is a charge, whether positive or negative, it is referred to as an electrical charge. This is generally what people refer to as energy and will be picked up by an EMF detector.

What is an EMF?

EMF stands for electromagnetic field. It is a field of charged particles. You could also call it an energy field. Electricity and magnetism go together and are synonymous. The energy field could be so large it encircles the earth or very small.

These energy fields can be created by naturally occurring substances such as copper, iron, limestone, chalk, salt and water or any combination of these things and among other elements and substances. When you add a water source and especially a moving water source such as a river or stream, it increases the EMF’s. It’s important to know what is around a site before taking EMF readings for this reason. When you add humidity and other naturally occurring factors, it could also increase the likeliness of an EMF.
