Cemetaries
This is something that I have been thinking about. What does everyone think about the overall paranormal activity in cemetaries? I was thinking, by the time the bodies reach their "final resting place," the person has been dead for at least 2-3 days. According to some, the "spirit" (or energy) leaves the body upon death. So in this respect, it doesn't make sense that there would be an adundance of paranormal activity in a cemetary, correct?
Now this is just focusing on local cemetaries, and not battlefield cemetaries such as Little Bighorn. That's an enitrely different thread, methinks. The reason I ask is because a cemetary seems like a good place for me to conduct some of my first investigations. I think it will allow me to get used to my equipment and also hone my investigating prowess. Also, I don't have any friends that are into the paranormal, so if I have to conduct a solo investigation I figure that a daytime cemetary investigation wouldn't be so bad (both for safety and verification reasons). Thoughts? |

RE: Cemetaries
Well, Some also say that the spirits don't want to leave their body and follow their body every place it goes. Don't know.

I have read about accounts of spirits "following people home," for lack of a better term (become attached?), from investigations. I have also heard from different accounts that cemetaries which are connected to a church have less activity than their secular counterparts. What has been your experience? |

RE: Cemetaries
Well another thing that I suggest that you take into account when investigating outside is all the natural things that could cause peculiar looking anomilies in your evidence. eg, bugs, dust, weather, street lights ect.
As for the spirit following us or getting attatched, I know that there are several reports of this happening throughm out history. I can say for my self that it's possible because it happened to us a couple years ago. I'm not sure if it was from St. Mary's Cemetery or from one of the buildings on the University campus. We were leaving main hall when we got a call from home stating that we brought something home that we shouldn't have. The light in the basement hallway kept turning on and off and there were dark shadows in the master bedroom also in the basement. I didn't witness any of this myself, however there were 4 other people in the house that did. As Erik about it. He can tell you more. That is why we now start and end any investigation/tour that we do with a non-denominational protection prayer. We haven't had a problem since we've started that. I hope this helps. RE: Cemetaries
Thanks for taking the time Kris. I know that investigating outdoors has its challenges concerning valid evidence. In all, honesty, I can't place much emphasis on orbs or the like because of the optical characteristics of the lens and natural light, dust, insects, pareidolia, etc.
I have also heard that many groups say a prayer of protection before investigating, which I think is very wise. |

RE: Cemetaries
I have capturedd legitimate Orbs in a cemetery but also dust, bugs, reflected light and also light ribbons, and Ecto mist you must judge each photo on it's own merit. And Just because Jason on TAPS says all Orbs are dust or bugs, he is wrong and remeber to prove what you are saying if you say it is a bug or dust or relection then prove it by duplicating it not just say it is. That way you will know if it is evidence or not.
A real Orb is very different that the dust orb or rain drop, you will know it when you see it. And yes I have witnessed a spirit following us home i can not explain the lights going on nd off by themselves, the shadows and the dog growling at the shadows. I then used the Saint Micheal prayer and told what ever it was to leave and that they were not welcome. If you look at it from this point of view... you got TAPS, a legitimate group but because the are internationally known and have a tv show quite a few newbees to the paranormal field take his word like it was the words of christ. What makes his opinion any better than mine, yours or the next guys. The entire paranormal study is nothen but theories and opinions as for nothen is proven. I'm sorry if you took it the wrong way or if he stated it the wrong way. ![]() -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |

RE: Cemetaries
I am not blasting you, I am sick of people thinking the Paranormal community goes by what TAPS says. I am not saying that you do, I was trying to tell you to think for yourself and dont drink the cool-aid. Use your own mind and beliefs.
And if you say it is something just prove 100% that it is what you are talking about. Unlike Rob, & Andy from International Ghost Hunters I meant nothing harsh or bad by what i said it just makes me a little mad when everyone thinks what they say is fact. RE: Cemetaries
I was at Missoula Cemetary today taking photos for my photo class. I am using a very expensive large format 120 film camera. This camera takes a while to get set up for each photo. There were several times that while setting up, I swear that I could hear people walking around me, I heard whispers when I approached several Civil War tombstones, and while I was near the childrens section I heard what sounded like kids screaming and playing and at the time did not realize I was near the childrens section because I was looking for unique tombstones at the time. I was there by myself and I can tell you it was weird hearing things and looking around for the footsteps and voices and no one being there.
