Ghost Boxes?

I've got a few questions for the forum regarding the use of so-called Ghost Boxes. I've seen them used online by people such as Chris Moon, and now recently on an episode of Paranormal State. What are you're impressions on this device?

I recently hacked a Radio Shack Radio model 12-469 to work as a simplified version of Frank's Box. Unfortunately I have not had a chance to test it out yet. Maybe this weekend.

I was wondering what you all thought about ghost boxes such as Frank's Box or the Radio Shack Hack (which I made)? Have any of you ever used one? If so, what type of unit did you use? What results, if any, did you get?

Also what, if any, validity would you give to a Box session? Would you put it in the same level of evidence as an EVP? Or would you consider it just good worthless fun?

That really did catch my attention on Paranormal State. I missed the beginning (which I assume they talked about in more detail). Seems like classic matrixing, but some responses were extremely hard to explain. Looking forward to your findings with it.

I seen that episode and I don't know if they are spirit voices, can one make sure it isnt picking up bits and peices of radio or CB radio and it appears to be spirit voices. If it can be determined that they are not from radio or T.V. or some other form of audio I would be willing to test such a box to see for myself that it works like they say it does.

The problem i see with this device is that a tuner is still in play. Just setting a radio at a frequency where you don't have a station does not mean that you won't get overlapping stations or distant receptions. There is also the problem of crossing a bandwidth. Mobile phones and Aeronautical radios work just below AM and broadcasting, mobile, fixed and radio locations are above AM. In the FM, You have TV broadcasting just below and Aeronautical Radio Navigation just above. All of these can cause interference or overlap some of the upper or lower frequencies in each bandwidth.

The device works by rapidly scanning through AM/FM stations. It created a random word matrix that the spirits use to communicate. (This is how they say it works, not me, I'm a skeptic) It's suppose to pick up on those frequencies.

It would be interesting to test but you couldnt use it as evidence i think, there is to much that call be disputed.

Yeah, by scanning frequencies you fall into that problem that I mentioned earlier about having overlap. Not sure that you could ever use this as evidence since you are still using a tuner. Now pull the tuner out and let it run without, that would be imprssive if you picked something up.

We need to try and develope such a box that can be controled better, that way it might be something that could possibly be used as research but not true evidence.
