Video camera recommendations?

Video camera recommendations?
Hey there

I'm thinking about picking up a video camera.. hoping someone might have a suggestion/recommendation based on my requirements.

I'm looking for a camera that has night shot, external IR for added light during night shot...AND I want it recording to flash media or DVD only. No tape. HD is a bonus but not necessarily a requirement. The biggie is recording to tapeless media.

Any ideas?

Thanks!
hanji

RE: Video camera recommendations?
Walmart sells a Sony Handicam for 399.99 that has a 30gb hard drive. But being sony it only takes its own flash memory (Memory Stick Pro Duo) which is about 2 to 3 times more expensive than an SD card. The only problem is it does not have IR, and I don't know if it has any ports or anything like that, that would allow you to "plug" something like that in. It does however have Nightshot.

RE: Video camera recommendations?
This seems like the one (Sony DCR-SR85).. except it has a 60GB harddrive. I see potential price at $299! This Amazon price is $360.

It has super night shot and can take the Sony HVL-IRM Video IR light.

RE: Video camera recommendations?
Yes, that's the next one up from the one my Wal*mart carries. We carry the DCR-SR45. Sorry, I forgot to put the model number in my original post.

If you look on EBay be careful we get a lot of customers coming in complaining that their cameras don't come with all the chords. Most of the time it's from someone who bought a "brand new" item on EBay, but what they really bought was an item someone needed a chord for, took the chord and put it on EBay as brand new.

RE: Video camera recommendations?
So Sony is the only camera with night shot now? Crazy.

RE: Video camera recommendations?
LOL...that is what got me...I was looking for nightshot camcorders and didn't want to pay the price for Sony. Found out that Sony is the only one producing them now.
