What gear should you start with?

What gear should you start with?
So, what are the bare essentials for paranormal investigating? Meaning, I don't want to drop a big wad a cash right away on gear, so would like to get some of the basics covered. What is the highest priority? Digital Camera? DVR? Video Hi8? EMF?

Just curious. Was thinking about EMF and DVR for now. I have a digital camera, even though it's not the greatest.

Thanks!
hanji

RE: What gear should you start with?
Hanji,

If you start of with a digital camera, EMF and maybe a digital thermometer or digital recording device you will have the esentials covered. We still haven't gotten a DVR system yet. It would cut down on time of viewing and compiling "evidence". It stores to a hard drive which makes it already in the digital format. If you keep everything digital it will cut down on the rendering and compilation time when gathering your "evidence".

I recomend if you are getting a video camera you should get a Sony Digital Hi8 camera. We have found that this camera doesn't pick up dust particles in the air that could be mistaken for orbs.

I hope this helps!
Kris

RE: What gear should you start with?
Ah.. so we have two acronyms..?

DVR = Digital Voice Recorder
and
DVR = Digital Video Recording (I also wonder if this falls under CCTV or closed circuit television)

How much does the Digital Hi8 run?

You can pick up a Sony Handycam Digital Hi8 for about $230.00. Bestbuy sells them. I would check there if you are interested.

RE: What gear should you start with?
I would say that if you don't want to spend a bunch of money that an EMF detector and digital recorder are the best options. The EMF detector will allow you to find high levels of electromagnetic fields that can cause the brain to believe that there is something going on that may not actaully be there. It will also allow you to find fields that move, we believe that these moving fields are generated by paranormal activity trying to manifest. These fields will usually disappear shortly after being detected. The digital recorder will allow you to record sound that would normally not be audible to the human ear.
