IR Flashlight / Illuminator

IR Flashlight / Illuminator
Hello all

I just created a IR Flashlight / Illuminator. It was a snap. I picked up a Brinkmann 6 volt Krypton Lantern and added a UV blocking filter to it, so the light that shines through is IR. I received my gel films today, so it was a simple mod by cutting 4 congo blues and 2 reds and adding them to the lense.

The light works great, my IR camera and nightshot video camera is picking up the light great. It's WAY brighter than the beam shooting out of my video camera. I want to work on the how the light is refracting off of the lense. There is a extremely 'bright' point in the center and would like to work on the angle.

Thanks!
hanji

RE: IR Flashlight / Illuminator
I created another IR illuminator using a IR kit and PVC pipe. This can be powered by 12V DC adapter or by 8AA batteries. I wrote a how-to on my blog.

RE: IR Flashlight / Illuminator
Flashlight IR Illuminator 'spot light' issue is now solved. I was able to create a refraction lens modification to create a 'flood light' effect. Works awesome. Also, it's easy to undo, if you want a IR spot light.
