Ghost beacon. Have any of you heard of this? It's basically a IR strobe, UV strobe or a combination of IR/UV strobes. You disable the nightshot IR and record via the strobe light. It's theorized that it can 'stir' paranormal activity.

I'm thinking of putting one together. Any of you heard of this?

This is the first I have heard of it and I haven't seen one being used on the various ghost hunting programs. Paranormal state and Ghost adventurers have been introducing tools I haven't sen used before but none have used the Ghost Beacon yet that I know of.

Ok, I have a small Beacon built. I purchased a 'cylon' red LED kit, and replaced a few of the LEDs with IR and UV LEDs. I'll have a post on my blog in the near future, took about 10 minutes to assemble, re-al easy. I think we should give it a try on the next investigation.

The idea is to use the beacon to help draw some curious 'spirits' by using different light frequencies.

Looks like you have some nice new equipment to try out. So the purpose of the Ghost Beacon is to bring in ghost activity......it doesn't lite up for communication with the spirit...right. Just trying to clarify for me..... the technically challenged.......Thanks

Janice, you are correct. No direct communication. The theory is that it may 'attract' or catch some attention. I don't know about any of this, but it's worth putting together and trying some experiments.

I bought some bike like 'strobes'. Tail light and a headlight strobe. I replaced the LEDs with IR LEDs, I think these pack more juice than my little ghost beacon. The next piece is to do this again, but add UV LEDs... they're expensive though.. around $2 each.

We'll test the IR strobes tonight at the Main Hall!
