IR Light Barriers

So the nerd-fest continues. I picked up two IR light barrier kits from BG Micro. I just finished the soldering on these bad boys tonight and they seem to work great.

The concept:
Each barrier has a IR transmitter and a IR receiver. If the connection is broken a alarm will sound. The only problem is that the alarm will go away as soon as the IR connection is re-established. But if we stay in ear shot of it, it could be interesting to mark door ways, etc.

Anyway, I'll have these for the next investigation.. so a new toy.

You rock Macgyver we would just have to have a IR video camera on the door way. would that work to maybe capture whatever broke the barrier
