RE: Technical Questions
If you go with the wire style they run anywhere from 10 to 30 dollars this is just for the probe. There are IR thermometers with the probe included ranging from 90 to 300 dollars.
The type K is labeled as a surface reader but the food service use it for liquid, surface, and ambient readings the average ambient time takes about 5 seconds from most trigger pulls. Make no mistake there are things that go bump in the night. I work for the ones that bump back. |

RE: Technical Questions
Smokey Wrote:Aren't type K probes for surface temp? I thought that they only took in to account the ambient temp. when taking a surface reading. Plus they are fairly expensive aren't they? I work on refrigeration equipment I have several different thermometers the infared kind dont measure ambient air very well the best thing for tracking a cold spot would be a probe style thermometer the trouble with that is they dont read temp very instantly but there are some probe style ones that are fairly quick. |

monte_9501 Wrote:We need to invent something that will. I've got a refrigerant sniffer that has a probe that actually circulates air put a quick response time temp probe in the end and I think you'd have something suitable for tracking cold spots |

RE: Technical Questions
well in theory yes the sniffer was just under 500 but most of the cost of that is in the freon detection end all a person needs is a good thermometer and a small fan to ctrculate the air
