I agree that you have to believe in whatever you use for it to work including prayers. Smudging isn't part of my religion just something I came upon when doing research in other areas. I have used it and because I believe it will work...... I believe it does. I'm such a woose sometimes and felt I needed that extra edge. I found it interesting that on one of her shows, "Life among the Dead", psychic Lisa Williams also used sage smudging to clear an area of negative energy. Just a little tidbit for whatever. I personally like using the combination of smudging and prayer so if one thing doesn't zap the nasty buggers, hopefully the other will.
Some ghost sites recommend the use of crystals. Again, it's all in if you want to believe it will work.
