RE: Shadow ghosts
Don't know. I think it is easier to see the "shadow people".

RE: Shadow ghosts
Ok here is what the email i sent to Darren and his replie on David's picture,
Darren Thompson founder and president of WSPIR
a Taps family member

Hello Erik,
Thanks for sending us your photo for analysis.
This Sunday we have a section of our meeting devoted to photography so we had a chance to look over your photo.
It is very interesting indeed, when we looked at the EXIF file we could see that the shutter was left open for 4 seconds and the ISO was 80.
This allows for multiple exposures, blurring (as seen in the lights on the upper galleries as well as the ghosting effect seen on anything moving.)
It is impossible to rule out the possibility that you have captured a spirit in this image but due to the fact that the exposure time and ISO speed it can also be duplicated as it is consistent with slow shutter speed anomalies.

Hello Eric,

Due to the night shot being used on the camera there is too much motion causing everything in the background to be blurred, positive identification would be impossible.

The fact that the exposure time was 4 seconds is what destroys the potential for being evidence, people could have walked across the frame and not even appear in the photo..or appeared twice.walk for 2 seconds stop..walk for 1 second and stop again appearing in two places in the same photo.

That can be duplicated using real people, even if there was an apparition in the photo the fact that the exposure time was 4 seconds would force you to dismiss this as credible evidence.

Does that make sense? I may have stated that unclearly, not my aim to confuse J although it may be what I end up doing.

Just let me know and perhaps I can explain it in a different way?

Cheers

RE: Shadow ghosts
Whoa.. EXIF MetaData! That's super cool! Sounds very interesting.

I'm able to extract EXIF MetaData with PHP for future digital pics if we need it. I can see it being extremely useful to help understand the condition of the shot taken from the camera's point of view at the moment.. specifically settings.

With PHP, we can run a batch on a set of photos. I know you can view EXIF by right clicking on the image -> Properties -> Advanced in Explorer. PHP output looks to give about twice as much data.. but the useful information is found in the Windows property as well.

Anyway.. sorry...back to the discussion.

RE: Shadow ghosts
What the hell is EXIF Metadata? The 4 sec. thing though is that he only had the cropped picture right? If so, the full pic is more interesting because you can see the whole cell block when the pic was taken and the image of the people only appear at that one point. We should send the original pic in full format.

RE: Shadow ghosts
No, that would be very helpful if you can do this...so I take it that you understand these numbers too?

RE: Shadow ghosts
The cool thing is that there is not enough to discredit the photo according to Darren. So that means it is left up to individual interpretation.

Smokey Wrote:What the hell is EXIF Metadata?

EXIF MetaData is information embedded into the image header. Basically, each digital camera embeds it's settings, information, make/model, with each image it creates. Cropped or not cropped, the EXIF information is preserved.. unless you do something to strip the EXIF header (ie: via photoshop or using scripting like PHP, etc) out. Each camera make/model include their set of EXIF data.. so what's available is different depending on the camera.
